How to entertain at your table

Some basic principles
We all generally receive guests.
We usually only invite them to treat them well and ensure they have a pleasant memory of our table.
It is not the invitation itself that will flatter our guests, but the way in which we treat them.
An invitation is, by its very nature, a sign of politeness and, whether accepted or not, it imposes a duty of gratitude which is expressed by an invitation from the person who has been received.
Except in very specific circumstances, it’s always best to invite people to your table who will be happy to share it. Similarly, if you invite several people, make sure they already know each other or that you’re certain they’ll get along.
